Himalayan Cashmere with NIVA Group: two countries join forces against the cold
Sarju Ranjit, owner of “Himalayan Cashmere”, NIVA Group Inc., is about to proudly announce the official launch of his fashion import business from Nepal.
When living in Nepal as a young adult, Sarju had a dream of one day becoming a business owner but the idea was not yet fully formed in his mind. A few years later, Sarju had the chance to move to the US with a student visa. There he worked to acquire the theoretical part of business learning by studying Information technology in Oklahoma and finance and marketing in Texas. He then worked as a UNIX system administrator in the IT field so that he could gain experience and apply concretely what he learned. Two years later, Sarju was ready to create his own company, but finding it more complex to be an entrepreneur in the US, he decided to immigrate to Canada and settle in Alberta.
Once in Edmonton, Sarju conducted a meticulous research to find out in which sector he would be most successful. After a first taste of Canadian cold weather, and finding most winter clothes heavy, not always of the best quality and frequently made of synthetic fabric, he became convinced that selling sweaters, gloves, caps and scarves made of Nepalese pashmina from the Himalayas was the right business niche for him. He immediately flew to his home country of Nepal to solidify ties with three suppliers who could provide him with high-end products for Canadian customers.
Now Sarju’s website is under construction, and he is working to establish connections with local retailers who will stock his products. Acting as broker between the supplier and the retailer, Sarju is building a bridge between two cultures from very different continents who share a common need: protection against the cold. We can thank Sarju for creating Himalayan Cashmere to help Canada and Nepal unite for warmth!
